Your Humantay Lake & Salkantay Mountain Trek begins early at 5:00 a.m., when we pick you up from your hotel and travel for approximately 3.5 hours to Soraypampa. The route offers picturesque views of traditional Andean villages such as Iscuchaca and Limatambo, as well as impressive valleys dominated by the snow-capped Salkantay Mountain.
Upon arrival at Soraypampa, enjoy light snacks while taking in spectacular views of the Humantay (5,900m/19,356ft) and Salkantay (6,217m/20,396ft) glaciers. We then start a one-hour ascent toward the famous turquoise Humantay Lake. Once at the lake, you will have time to explore, take photographs, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this remarkable natural wonder.
Afterward, we return to Soraypampa and continue hiking for about two hours to our campsite in Soyroccocha. When you arrive, your tents will already be set up and waiting for you. Enjoy hot drinks and appetizers before a hearty dinner, then rest early to prepare for the next day’s ascent.
After a nutritious breakfast, we begin a gradual climb toward the highest point of the Humantay Lake & Salkantay Mountain Trek: the Salkantay Pass at 4,650m (15,367ft). Reaching the top is a rewarding moment, offering commanding views of the towering Salkantay (6,217m/20,717ft), Humantay, and Huayanay snow-capped peaks.
We continue through an impressive high-Andean landscape of mineral-rich glacial rivers and small crystalline lakes. A short detour off the main trail brings us to the stunning turquoise Salkantay Lake—an unforgettable highlight of the trek. After time to enjoy the scenery, we descend along the same path back to the trailhead, where lunch will be served.
Once finished, we take our private transport back to Cusco, arriving at your hotel around 6:00 p.m.
The Humantay Trek 2 days is available any date with a minimum of 2 hikers.
Pack horse included. Each hiker has a 7 kg allowance for personal items, carried by our pack horse. A duffel bag is provided.
